Trump’s job performance. President Trump’s approval rating sits at 51 percent—“according to Rasmussen, Obama was at 46 percent on April 4 of 2010, the second year of his presidency,” Breitbart reports. ------------------------- FDA Commissioner Calls on Internet Providers to Help Police Opioid Offerings - The Washington Post Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb has “called on Internet providers to help rid the Web of illegal offers of prescription opioids and illicit drugs such as fentanyl that have contributed to the nation's drug crisis,” Lenny Bernstein and Elizabeth Dwoskin of The Washington Post write. Internet companies need to do more to find and remove such listings, Commissioner Gottlieb said. ------------------------- Leadership Is Here to Fight Opioids -The Detroit News U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams says that President Trump’s opioid initiative marks a “significant moment” in our country’s effort to reverse the drug crisis. “With the new opioid initiative, he is providing the leadership necessary to make serious headway in this battle,” the Surgeon General writes. ------------------------- Sessions Credits Trump with Stopping Migrant Caravan - The Hill On Wednesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions “credited President Trump with halting a ‘caravan’ of migrants the president had warned were headed toward the U.S. border through Mexico,” The Hill reports. “Let me be clear as well: we will not accept the lawlessness of these types of efforts,” Attorney General Sessions said. ------------------------- Wall Street Closes Higher As China Tariff Fears Ease - Reuters The three major Wall Street market indexes closed higher on Wednesday as the White House explained its position on trade with China. New National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said the Trump Administration is in a “negotiation” with China over tariffs and other issues, not a trade war. ------------------------- A Common Sense Approach to the Census Citizenship Question - The Hill In an op-ed for The Hill, Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) outlines the hypocrisy of Democrats on immigration. The left opposes the Trump Administration’s decision to reinstate a question on citizenship status in the 2020 short-form census questionnaire. “How can you advocate for illegal immigrants if you aren’t willing to understand the very problem you are trying to solve?” Rep. Barletta asks. ------------------------- Trump Has Not Forgotten Rural America’s Needs, Contributions - Lexington Herald Leader “This past week, I hit the road for our third ‘Back to Our Roots’ RV tour, driving across Michigan, Ohio and now Kentucky,” Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue writes. “As always, these tours are an opportunity to escape the noise of Washington and hear directly from the American people.” Secretary Perdue said rural Americans care most about trade, the economy, jobs, and burdensome regulations.

The President’s agenda is defying critics
Last week, calculations of America’s economic growth rate for the fourth quarter of 2017 were revised upward to show growth of nearly 3 percent. “That revision didn’t get nearly as much attention as when the initial read of that quarter’s growth came in below expectations at 2.6 percent,” Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said.

Director Mulvaney delivered his verdict: Too many on the left and in the media will pounce on any news they can to throw doubt on the effectiveness of President Donald J. Trump’s economic agenda.

But the economy is booming, as nearly any statistic you could pick makes clear:

The U.S. unemployment rate in February marked a 17-year low.
The number of Americans rating the economy good to excellent has hit an 18-year high.
Average job growth numbers in 2018 are the strongest since 1997.
Since January 2017, more than 2.5 million jobs have been added to the economy.

National public health advisory
Speaking at a National drug abuse summit in Atlanta yesterday, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams announced his office’s first National public health advisory in 13 years. The Surgeon General urged more Americans to carry naloxone, a potentially lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

"You don't have to be a policeman or a firefighter or a paramedic to save a life," Dr. Adams said.

Earlier this week, the Surgeon General praised President Trump’s leadership in the fight against opioid abuse. The President’s opioid initiative “marks a significant moment in our national effort to reverse the deadly trends we have seen,” Dr. Adams wrote.

What to know about the President’s National Guard order
To give our Border Patrol agents the support they deserve, President Trump has authorized the deployment of National Guard units to America’s southern border.

Our Border Patrol agents work incredibly hard to do their jobs. These law enforcement personnel are tasked with securing thousands of miles of border, and they often do not have the manpower or resources necessary to address the flow of illegal immigration into the United States.

President Trump is taking this action because Congressional Democrats have obstructed efforts to secure our border. While the President will use every ounce of his existing powers to protect American national security, Congress must deliver a lasting fix to this problem.
