Message from the Supreme President Brothers and Sisters of the AHEPA Family,     On behalf of the entire Sons of Pericles Supreme Lodge, I want to extend our best wishes to everyone for a wonderful and blessed Easter Season! Coupling with the Easter season, Springtime has also come to bring new life and energy to the country. The Sons of Pericles have continued to work very hard and with this new energy, we have been able to push through the winter months in stride, capitalizing on all of the opportunities that have presented themselves. We have continued to reap the benefits of being the National Project of AHEPA and have currently grown further this calendar year to 11 new or reactivated chapters!  Most recently, Tacoma, WA; Minneapolis, MN; and Upper Darby, PA have reactivated their chapters.  We are thrilled to have all of the new members and see each of these chapters grow, in addition to our existing ones!   Springtime also signals the mark of the beginning of District Convention Season. As we inch closer and closer to our Supreme Convention in the summer, we aim to use our District Conventions to visit our chapters across the country and Canada. We will be doing so this year by visiting as many District Conventions as possible. With the mass influx of chapters and members, we find it imperative to visit our chapters to insure their success, as well as build strong relationships. If you have not already spoken with the Supreme Lodge Liaison to your district, please reach out to them to schedule their visitation. We will be doing our best to reach everyone this year!   We hope to continue our streak of success this year through all of the support we have received within the AHEPA Family. The AHEPA Family Celebrates Greek Independence Day at the White House On Thursday, March 22, Brother Supreme President Bill Poulos traveled to Washington, DC to join other members of the AHEPA Family and Greeks from across the globe in the annual celebration of Greek Independence Day, which was graciously hosted at the White House. Esteemed members and leaders of the AHEPA Family were treated to a wonderful reception headlined by President Donald Trump and His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios. Brother Bill Poulos was joined by; AHEPA Supreme President Carl Hollister, Daughters of Penelope Grand President Eva Jean Fomalont, Maids of Athena Grand President Sophia Shakolas, and other Grand and Supreme Lodge Officers.               The Sons of Pericles would like to thank President Trump for the hospitality and graciousness of hosting this event, honoring Greek Independence and further promoting Hellenism throughout the entire United States. We are honored to be part of this annual event and hope to help contribute to the continued influence the Hellenic Community has on this great country.

Sons of Pericles & Maids of Athena on Display in Columbus, Ohio The Buckeye District 11 hosted their Regional Awards Banquet in Columbus, Ohio on March 17, where several esteemed members of the district were honored with awards of excellence. The Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena were also at the forefront of the evening, further benefiting from being the National Project of AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope   The Junior Orders as well as the Modern Greek Program at The Ohio State University were direct beneficiaries of this event.  The event was able to raise roughly $10,000 for the Sons and Maids, all of which will be used to continue the pursuit of growth, expansion, retention, and promotion of Hellenism in both Orders. We want to graciously thank everyone that attended and donated to our Order.  We are continually grateful for our Senior Orders for their love and support to carry on the legacy that AHEPA has created. We are proud to serve and we plan to achieve greater goals with your generosity and support.

Regional Events

Greeks in LA Once again, sunny Los Angeles, CA proved to be a welcome break from colder climates as members of the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena from all over the country came to participate in our Greeks in LA weekend.  Greeks in LA started as our Western Regional Basketball tournament but has become so much more in recent years.  In addition to athletics, Greeks in LA gives the opportunity to get together with parea and see what our brothers and sisters in different regions are up to.  The weekend culminates in a well attended Greek Night with guest DJ Gus Sverkos.  This year's basketball tournament was hosted at the beautiful campus of Cal State Long Beach, and the venue was fitting for the level of play. We had our first ever-double OT semi final game. Ultimately, our Brothers from Orange County took home the championship! Aside from the many laughs and good competition, our event made a real impact on our philanthropic goals for the year. The majority of our proceeds from all of our national events throughout the year benefit our National Project, which St. Basil's Academy. Greeks in Atlanta For the second year and running, the best Greekend in the Southeast happens again on April 13th-15th! Greeks in Atlanta is only a week away!  Team registration is still available for those participating last minute. Don't miss out on our Meet and Greet at Athens Pizza on Friday, or Greek Night at Taverna Plaka on Saturday. AHEPA Scholars Tallahassee On Saturday, February 17th, Seminoles Chapter 334 participated in its first on-campus event as AHEPA Scholars, a registered student organization at FSU. For the International Bazaar 2018, AHEPA Scholars showcased our Hellenic culture by providing food, history, traditional costumes, and traditional Greek folk dancing.

Greek Independence Day in Tarpon Springs, FL  On Sunday, March 18th, members of the AHEPA Family came from across Citrus District 2 to celebrate Greek Independence Day by marching in the annual parade in Tarpon Springs, FL. The Sons of Pericles District 2 Lodge was in attendance, joined by members of the Tampa Bay, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, and Tallahassee chapters. Ζητω Η Ελλαδα!

40th Anniversary Valentine's Day Dance - Albany, NY The Phocion Chapter 44 Sons and Maids of Athena of Albany, NY hosted their annual Valentines Day Dance on February 10th. The weekend kicked off on Friday night with a private room and DJ at Philly Bar.  Saturday's dance saw over 250 people in attendance.  Local restaurants and sponsors donated food and the decorations, DJ, photo booth and raffle helped make the night one to remember.  This event has been a staple of the Albany Sons & Maids for forty years, and past chapter presidents from both organizations were recognized during the evening as well.  We commend the Albany Sons and Maids on hosting a wonderful event and look forward to more dances in the future!

Minnesota Initiation & Workshop Supreme Treasurer Fred Docous flew out to Minneapolis on March 10th. The trip was highlighted by an initiation of six new Sons into Olympus Chapter 35.  Four members of the AHEPA were present for the initiation and the workshop that followed.  Brother Fred was able to work with chapter members in order to brainstorm ideas for chapter events, events in the community, organization of the chapter in general, communication, and participation in National events.

National Project: St. Basil's Academy

The Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena are joining forces once again this year to help raise funds for St. Basil's Academy. The Academy is a safe haven and home for all Orthodox children in need. They provide a nurturing environment for the children while offering educational, spiritual, and material needs. This October, we were very happy to visit the campgrounds and find out a little bit more about what Saint Basil's Academy does.     This year, our minimum goal is to raise $25,000 for St. Basil's Academy to help fund their music program and create an in-house athletic program. To help us raise these funds, we will be selling tickets for two raffles as well as Sons of Pericles merchandise.   We thank you for your support to a worthy cause. This year the Sons of Pericles are selling custom basketball shorts for $20.00 a pair (+$5.00 shipping).  This is a great opportunity to purchase these shorts and be able to wear them during one of our many basketball tournaments throughout the year!
