The two leaders exchanged greetings on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on the Principles of Relations Between the Republic of Turkey and the Russian Federation, dated May 25, 1992. Vladimir Putin also wished Recep Tayyip Erdogan success in connection with his election as Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey.
The mutual commitment was reiterated on furthering the strategic partnership of the two countries. In this context, the two leaders also touched upon the progress made in implementing the agreements on reciprocal lifting of restriction in trade and the economy and the large-scale joint energy projects: the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and the TurkStream pipeline.
When discussing the Syria crisis, the importance of prompt agreement on the practical aspects of the Memorandum on De-escalation Zones in the Syrian Arab Republic was underscored. This would make it possible to enhance the ceasefire regime, and increase the effectiveness of the intra-Syrian talks in the Geneva and Astana formats. It was agreed to step up the coordination of efforts on these issues at different levels.
The presidents of Russia and Turkey agreed to continue regular personal contacts.

The Russian President congratulated Hassan Rouhani on his re-election and wished him every success in office.
The two presidents once again expressed their firm intention to deepen the multifaceted bilateral cooperation in fulfilment of the agreements reached during the visit of the Iranian President to the Russian Federation on March 27–28, 2017. A special focus was placed on trade and economic cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects in oil and gas and nuclear energy.
When discussing the situation in Syria, the two leaders stressed the importance of stepping up joint efforts to facilitate the political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict, particularly within the framework of the Astana process and through the implementation of the Memorandum on the Creation of De-Escalation Areas in Syria.
It was agreed to continue both bilateral and multilateral contacts.

The main goal of the festival is to fulfil the creative potential of children with disabilities, which helps them better adapt socially. What makes the event stand out conceptually is the joint participation of children with and without disabilities.
The festival has been held in St Petersburg since 2008. The tenth, milestone event will be held from May 27 to 31, 2017, bringing together over 400 gifted musicians and artists with disabilities from Russia and abroad.
In what is likely to be one of the brighter events of the summer, the festival has an eventful musical programme featuring professional performers who have taken part in Russian and international competitions. A roundtable discussion bringing together parents of disabled children will be held as part of the festival.

”Preserving the unity of our multi-ethnic nation and improving the intercultural and interfaith dialogue is a priority for the government. It is essential that this serious and much needed effort should rely on the considerable potential of public and religious bodies, researchers and experts.
In this respect, I would like to stress the multifaceted work carried out by the Russian Peoples’ Assembly, which has over the years implemented a number of varying and substantial projects, and held large-scale youth forums, congresses of Russian peoples and professional competitions for leaders of non-profit organisations from all over the country. A federal network of methodological resource centres established by the Assembly to assist ethnic and interethnic public associations, as well as regional and municipal authorities, is developing successfully.
This much needed and truly selfless work deserves the deepest recognition.“
