EKΔΟΣΕΙΣ ΚΑΖΑΝΤΖΑΚΗ....

Οι Εκδόσεις Καζαντζάκη, στόχος των οποίων είναι η διάδοση και ανάδειξη του Ελληνικού Πολιτισμού μέσα από το Λόγο του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη, στην Ελλάδα και διεθνώς, συνδιοργανώνουν, με το Edmissions UK και το Entertaining TV του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, μια θεατρική βραδιά ενός έργου του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη, με τίτλο «Κωμωδία».

Η πρεμιέρα του ανέκδοτου αυτού έργου θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 31 Μαΐου 2014, και ώρα 7:00 μ.μ., στη θεατρική σκηνή Lilian Baylis Studio-Sadler’s του Λονδίνου. Το έργο θα ακολουθήσει 45λεπτη συζήτηση Στρογγυλής Τραπέζης με εξέχουσες προσωπικότητες του Καζαντζακικού κόσμου σχετικά με το θεατρικό έργο και με τη ζωή και το έργο του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη γενικότερα. Η εκδήλωση τελεί υπό την αιγίδα του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού.

Kazantzakis Publications, in the fulfillment to its mission to advance and promote Greek Culture and Hellenism across the world through the works of Nikos Kazantzakis is co-organizing, with EdmissionUK and Entertaining TV, a cultural event based on one of the ecumenical author’s theatrical works Comedy: A Tragedy in One Act, performed by The Canting Crew, on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., at Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells, Rosebery Avenue, London, United Kingdom. The play will be followed by a roundtable and audience discussion.

The event will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Athletics of the Hellenic Republic.

Nikos Kazantzakis’s Comedy: A Tragedy in One Act, was first published in 1909. It focuses on Man’s existential angst at death’s threshold. Although it bears striking resemblances with Jean Paul Sartre’s Behind Closed Doors (1944) and Samuel Becket’s Waiting for Godot (1952) Nikos Kazantzakis’s play was written several decades before the establishment of the existentialist scene by the two world-renowned existentialists.

The Round Table Discussion will feature a distinguished five member panel comprising:
  • Roderick Beaton, Professor of Modern Greek & Byzantine History, Language & Literature at King's College London.
  • Darren J. N. Middleton, Professor of Religion and Honors College Faculty Fellow at Texas Christian University.
  • Stephen Oswald, Artistic Director of the theatrical group “The Canting Crew” and the play’s Director.
  • Niki Stavrou, Director of Kazantzakis Publications.

Panel Chair: Lewis Owens, EdmissionUK, Author of Creative Destruction: Nikos Kazantzakis and the Literature of Responsibility.
