ΕUFIC:New job vacancies at the European Food Information Council


The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) is looking for candidates to fill four new roles within our organisation. These are:
  • EU Projects Communications Internship
  • Nutrition & Health Internship
  • Media & Communications Internship
EU Projects Communications Internship:
Key responsibilities –
  • Preparation of communication material (drafting and writing articles, brochures, leaflets, press releases, and other text-based communication, and recording podcasts).
  • Updating EU project websites (editing, adding and creating content through a content management system).
  • Media activities - media relations work (promotion with media representatives and liaising with partner media departments), and managing media monitoring reports.
  • Social media activities (researching and frequently posting news and information).
  • Performing desk research on stakeholders and stakeholder contacts.
Financial and administrative activities related to EU-projects that the assistant will also be involved in –
  • Financial management and reporting.
  • Progress reporting.
  • Organisation and attendance of meetings and conferences.
  • Database and file management.
Educational requirements, experience and skills –
  • A B.A. or B.Sc. degree in an appropriate science or science communication subject (preferably a M.Sc. in science communication) followed by communication, PR or journalism work experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of using social media.
  • Experience of writing news articles and press releases quickly and to deadline.
  • Able to translate scientific information into accurate and easy to understand communication material.
  • Good networking and people skills.
  • Creative and highly motivated self-starter.
  • Enthusiastic to work in a growing and dynamic team of more than 15 people.
  • Communications experience with EU projects is an advantage.
  • Excellent English, both speaking and writing skills. Additional European languages are an advantage.
Job conditions –
  • 1100€/month, 1-2 return flights between UK-Europe/Brussels.

  • May involve European travel for meetings and conferences.
  • Start date from 1 October 2013.

Nutrition & Health Internship:
Key responsibilities –
  • Support nutrition and health activities.
  • Assist in preparing publications (Food Today articles, scientific papers, press releases, podcasts, etc.), organising meetings, with conference stands.
  • Regular website/extranet content updates.
  • Desk research on scientific events, stakeholders, consumer research studies, specific topics.
  • Database management and filing.
Educational requirements, experience and skills –
  • Nutrition Science background.
  • Fluent in English, other European languages an advantage.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to translate scientific information into easy to understand language for consumers. Must be able to write well in English.
  • Interested in, and a passion for, communications, nutrition and health.
  • Able to search for information, using the Internet.
  • Able to summarise information succinctly.
  • Proactive and well organised (capable of handling specific tasks alone).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with content management systems and web-based applications would be a plus.
Job conditions –
  • 1100€/month, 1-2 return tickets UK-Europe/Brussels.

  • Start date from 15 October 2013.

Media & Communications Internship:
Key responsibilities –
  • Support media monitoring.
  • Perform website statistical analysis (ex. using Google Analytics), implement Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), advise website design & development.
  • Manage and advise on social media (Facebook, Twitter) strategy.
  • Update website content and contact databases.
  • Perform stakeholder research.
  • Assist in drafting reports and publications.
Educational requirements, experience and skills –
  • Has a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or website design and management, and an interest in statistical analysis, food science or physical activity.
  • Must write in succinct English and be familiar with social media and web marketing.
  • Is well organised, accurate and able to work independently.
Job conditions –
  • 500-1000 € / month (depending on experience), 1-2 return trips Europe/Brussels.
