Corfu Summer School in Hybrid Arts, 02/06/2018 - 10/06/2018 Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts – Ionian University, Corfu – Greece

Following last year' s kickoff, the 2nd Corfu Summer School in Hybrid Arts is to be held from 2nd to 10th June 2018, organized by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, within the framework of the 12th Audiovisual Arts Festival. The main aim of the summer school continues to be the integration of both Greek mythological inspiration connected with the Ionian Islands and the almost unlimited possibilities of new media into the sphere of Hybrid Arts. A summer school dedicated to those who are interested in investigating the concept of hybridization through the intermediality as a new means of artistic expression with social or political activism, using the cutting-edge technology in conjunction with scientific contribution. Composed by a series of intensive theoretical and practical seminars, the program focuses mainly on two areas, Biology and Environment, under the thematic ‘In/Out’. During the nine days, participants will have the opportunity to attend a wide range of courses, such as Brain Imaging, Experiential Anatomy, Site-Specific Arts, Astrophotography, Storytelling in Museums and Bio Art, byfaculty members of the Ionian University and international guest instructors who are university faculty members at Liverpool John Moores University (UK) and Central Saint Martins, London (UK). Registration for all individual participants is made via the online form until May 31st 2018.  Scholarships for students of the Ionian University are available for free tuiton. A 10% discount is offered to graduates of the Ionian University and students of other universities in Greece or abroad. All courses are taught in English and regardless of its intensive program, the Corfu Summer School in Hybrid Arts will still leave all participants with enough time and renewed energy to explore the unique environment of the island.
