How Greece is Reversing Brain Drain

BBC (April 6)

"I decided to go back to the UK and seek new opportunities." Since Greece's near bankruptcy in 2010, life has been particularly hard for the country's young people. Although there are finally some tiny signs of recovery - the economy grew by 1.6% in 2017 and the country is expected to exit its bailout programme in August - unemployment for under-25s remains around 45%. read more

A Brand New Beginning: "Austerity Measures: The New Greek Poetry"
Los Angeles Review of Books (April 10)
WHEN SO MUCH is scarce, there are only, as Karen Van Dyck writes in her introduction to Austerity Measures: The New Greek Poetry, "new ways to imagine what can be radically different realities." Somehow, among all of this, a renaissance in poetry has ignited. read more
