Five new ways we're supporting journalists
New grants for French Global Health Reporting
Good news for French journalists! We will launch a new grant programme for France, awarding €165,000 of funding for stories that shed light on Global Health issues in developing countries. Applications will be open in early 2018.
Ten more Media Landscapes to come
Our latest edition of the Media Landscapes maps the entire journalism ecosystem of 20 countries – and there is more to come. Thanks to funding from Free Press Unlimited, we will extend the scope to ten new countries in early 2018 and cover Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Nepal & El Salvador.
€105,000 for development reporting projects
This week, we announced the six new winners of our Innovation in Development Reporting grant programme. Our grantees will be awarded a combined sum of more than €105,000 to cover stories on food security.
New LEARNO courses for data journalists
Our LEARNO platform launched a variety of new, free online skills courses tailored to the needs of data journalists. Stay tuned: Two new courses for data visualisation with the topics Mapping for Journalists and Charting Tools for the Newsroom will be published soon!
New programme: Engaged Journalism Accelerator
The News Integrity Initiative at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism has awarded $1.5 million to the European Journalism Centre. We will use this funding to establish the Engaged Journalism Accelerator, offering a comprehensive programme to help newsrooms develop tools and reporting that empower communities.
