President Trump Approves Emergency Declaration for California Wildfires 
Yesterday, President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of California and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by wildfires beginning on October 8, 2017, and continuing.
While in California on Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence received a briefing at the Sacramento Office of Emergency Services on the California wildfires. “To California, we say through this declaration: We are with you, our prayers are with you, and we will be with you every day until we put the fires out and stand with these families to rebuild these communities. That’s our pledge to each one of you today,” said the Vice President.
First Lady Melania Trump Visits Infant Recovery Center for Prenatal Drug Exposure 
Yesterday, First Lady Melania Trump traveled to West Virginia to visit Lily’s Place, the Nation’s first nonprofit infant recovery center for prenatal drug exposure. The First Lady was joined by Kellyanne Conway, Senior Counselor to the President, and Dr. Elinor McCance-Katz, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use at the Department of Health and Human Services. All three participated in a roundtable discussion with staff followed by a tour of the facility.
The First Lady stated, “It is my hope that we can find ways to create more of the opportunities afforded by places like Lily’s Place, so that we can continue to help infants and children grow into happy, healthy adults.”
Pittsburgh Penguins Visit the White House 
On Tuesday, President Trump proudly welcomed the 2017 Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins, to the East Room of the White House. The President entered the cheering room with First Lady Melania Trump and Penguins co-owners Ron Burkle and Mario Lemieux. President Trump commended the Penguins, stating they “embody the values of dedication, discipline, and hard work,” and praised those same qualities in the first responders aiding both in the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting and the fires consuming Northern California.

Today, the President and First Lady welcome the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and Mrs. Gregoire Trudeau to the White House. Later, the President will travel to Pennsylvania where he will deliver remarks on tax reform. Watch live at 5:45pm ET.

White House Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month 
On Friday, President Donald J. Trump hosted an event to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month and Hispanic American leaders at the White House. More than 200 Hispanic business, community, and faith leaders from across the country gathered at the White House to hear remarks from President Trump, Secretary Alex Acosta of the Department of Labor, and Treasurer Jovita Carranza from the Department of Treasury.
President Trump discussed the histories, cultures, and many contributions of Hispanic-Americans to our Nation. “Our amazing Hispanic American communities embody our great American values of faith, and family, and security, and hard work, and freedom,”the President said. He also highlighted the contributions of more than a quarter of a million Hispanic Americans serving in the military, “We are all Americans and bound together by this country and this flag,” said the President. “Each of you represents a vital part of the fabric of this Nation.”

We Will Get Through This Together
Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Friday to survey storm damage and meet with members of the community affected by Hurricane Maria. The Vice President visited a local church-turned-relief center, reminding those gathered that they will have the support of the federal government throughout the recovery process. “We will get through this and we will get through this together for everyone,” he said.

Hurricane Relief and Recovery 
Over the weekend, President Trump signed emergency declarations for Mississippi,Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana and ordered Federal assistance to supplement hurricane relief and response efforts in the wake of Hurricane Nate. These declarations will help expedite recovery measures such as debris removal.

This morning, the President received his daily intelligence briefing, followed by a meeting with Dr. Henry Kissinger. In the afternoon, the President had lunch with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Later, the President welcomed the Stanley Cup Champions: The Pittsburgh Penguins to the White House.
Vice President Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence are in California where they will participate in a briefing on Mojave Air and Space Port and then tour the Virgin Orbit/Virgin Galactic/The Spaceship Company hangar. After that, they will tour the Stratolaunch Systems carrier plane, and then depart for Washington, D.C.

Tomorrow, the President and First Lady will welcome the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and Mrs. Gregoire Trudeau to the White House.

Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal produced on July 15 and 16, 2017 is being recalled because the product may contain almonds, an undeclared nut allergen. 
General Mills will recall affected Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal produced on those dates from customer warehouses and store shelves. Consumers with nut allergies should not consume products bearing the affected code dates and should contact General Mills for a replacement or full refund.

What You Need to Know This Flu Season

Getting an annual flu vaccine is the best way to protect you and your family from the flu.  Flu vaccination can reduce the risk of illness, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to sickness. The CDC recommends to get vaccinated by the end of October, if possible.
