AHEPA, AHI Host Dinner in Honor of 
Prime Minister Tsipras' Visit to the U.S.

WASHINGTON (October 17, 2017) -- The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (Order of AHEPA) and the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) hosted a dinner in honor of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' visit to the U.S., Oct. 16, 2017, at the Willard InterContinental, Washington, D.C. Prime Minister Tsipras is in the midst of a five-day visit to the United States, which included a working luncheon and joint press conference with President Donald J. Trump, today.
In remarks, Prime Minister Tsipras discussed the importance of U.S. investment in Greece, the opportunities to enhance U.S.-Greece defense cooperation, and the critical role the Greek American community can play in the U.S.-Greece relationship.
Prime Minister Tsipras described members of the community as the best ambassadors, and added, "You represent the values of freedom and democracy."

AHEPA and the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) hosted a dinner in honor of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, at the Willard InterContinental, Washington, DC, Oct. 16. The prime minister completes a five-day visit to the U.S. today. At the dinner, Supreme President Carl R. Hollister announced AHEPA and Greece's Ministry of Tourism have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for AHEPA to hold its Supreme Convention in Greece in 2021--the bicentennial anniversary of Greece's Independence.

Trump hails Greece's economic revival at White House meeting

President Donald Trump reaffirmed the United States' commitment to Greece's economic recovery at the White House on Tuesday, a meeting that allowed the country's prime minister to brush aside rough comments he made about Trump during the 2016 campaign.

Trump, joining with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, said Greece had "gone through a lot" during its extended period of economic hardships but vowed that the U.S. would remain steadfast as the country executes its debt-relief plan.  read more
