EU and US leaders met in Brussels
On 25 May 2017, European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Parliament President Antonio Tajani met with US President Donald Trump.
They discussed areas of EU-US cooperation, including security, climate change, foreign policy and trade.
"We agreed on many areas. But some issues remain open, like climate and trade", said President Tusk after the meeting

The President of the European Council also stressed that he and President Trump may not have "a common opinion about Russia". However, as regards the conflict in Ukraine "it seems that we were on the same line", said the President.
President Tusk highlighted the values, like freedom and human rights, which give EU-US cooperation and friendship "its deepest meaning".
"The greatest task today is the consolidation of the whole free world around those values, and not just interests. Values and principles first - this is what we, America and Europe, should be saying", he added.
This what the first meeting between leaders of EU institutions and President Donald Trump.
