Employment and Social Policy issues

Coordination of social security systems

Ministers will debate a proposal for an amended regulation to update and modernize the coordination of European social security systems.

European Semester 2017

Ministers will also discuss the European Semester 2017. Focusing on the implementation of the country-specific recommendations, they will talk about how to enhance labour market access and reduce divergence across the EU.
In addition, the Council will adopt conclusions on the 2017 annual growth survey and joint employment report, dealing with priorities for action in the areas of employment and social policies.

Enhancing skills of women and men

The Council is also expected to adopt conclusions on enhancing the skills of women and men in the EU labour market.

Tripartite Social Summit

The presidency and the Commission will inform the Council about preparations for the Tripartite Social Summit on 8 March which deals with "The future of Europe: charting the course towards growth, employment and fairness".
