πρόεδρος της Κολομβίας Juan Manuel Santos, συναντήθηκε σήμερα με τον
Μάρτιν Σουλτς και με την επιτροπή Εξωτερικών του ΕΚ. Ο πρόεδρος του ΕΚ
δήλωσε τη στήριξη του στον κ. Santos, που επισκέπτεται την Ευρώπη με
σκοπό να συγκεντρώσει οικονομική ενίσχυση και πολιτική στήριξη για τις
ειρηνευτικές διαπραγματεύσεις με τις Επαναστατικές Ένοπλες Δυνάμεις της
Κολομβίας (FARC),Επιτροπή Εξωτερικών Υποθέσεων

Elmar Brok (EPP,
DE), chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, underlined the importance
and urgency of shedding light on the recent allegations of corruption
within the EULEX Kosovo mission, following an extraordinary exchange of
views on the matter on Monday, 3.11.2014, with the EEAS Civilian
Operations Commander, Kenneth Deane, and the Director for Western Europe
and Balkans, Fernando Gentilini.
"It is of utmost importance to urgently shed light on all
the allegations of corruption and on the internal investigations that
have been carried out in secret," Mr Brok said following the meeting.
"The credibility of
the EULEX mission and of the EU in Kosovo is at stake. The mission’s
role in Kosovo is to fight against corruption and impunity, and it
should set an example. We must show with no hesitation that no-one is
above the law and that the fight against corruption is our key priority,
both in Kosovo, but within our own institutions as well", he
underlined.
"Corruption scandals
unfortunately happen. What makes the difference, however, is the way we
address them. Our committee’s message is clear: all the allegations
must be swiftly investigated in a transparent and impartial manner, by a
third party. Alleged attempts to cover up also need to be part of these
investigations, " he said.
"The Parliament was
not informed on time, and the answers given in the Committee were not
substantiated enough. We might set up an investigation committee, if we
do not get proper information and results," he emphasised.
"The Foreign Affairs
Committee will follow the matter very closely. To this effect, I will
address, on behalf of the committee, a letter to the new High
Representative/Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini,
asking her to come up with answers to our questions within a short
delay", he said.

Η ΕΕ θα πρέπει να διαθέσει βοήθεια ύψους 8,8 εκατ. ευρώ στους απολυμένους της αλυσίδας καταστημάτων ένδυσης Sprider Stores στην Ελλάδα και της εταιρίας κατασκευής κοσμημάτων Andersen Ireland Limited στην Ιρλανδία, προκειμένου αυτοί να μπορέσουν να βρουν μία νέα θέση εργασίας. Αυτή ήταν η σύσταση της επιτροπής Προϋπολογισμών του ΕΚ την Τρίτη, 4 Νοεμβρίου. Τα νομοθετικά σχέδια μένει τώρα να εγκριθούν από την ολομέλεια του ΕΚ και το Συμβούλιο των Ευρωπαίων Υπουργών.
