ΠΡΕΣΒΕΙΑ ΙΡΑΚ:Με μεγάλη επιτυχία ολοκληρώθηκε ο αγώνας δρόμου 5χλμ-The 5km Run of the Iraqi Embassy was concluded with great success

Με πάνω από 400 συμμετέχοντες να τρέχουν για την ειρήνη κάτω από την Ακρόπολη και νικητές τον Παναγιώτη Δημόπουλο στους άνδρες και την Αθανασία Τσουμελέκα στις γυναίκες ολοκληρώθηκε ο αγώνας 5χλμ “Run for Peace: From Acropolis to Babylon” που έλαβε χώρα την Κυριακή 16 Μαρτίου στην καρδιά της Αθήνας. Οι προσπάθειες των διοργανωτών (Πρεσβεία Ιράκ και Ο.Π.Α.Ν.Δ.Α.) και φορέων (υπό την αιγίδα του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού) που συμμετείχαν στέφθηκαν με απόλυτη επιτυχία, καθώς το πλήθος των συμμετεχόντων απήλαυσε τη μοναδική διαδρομή και την άρτια διοργάνωση.

Τον αγώνα τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους ο Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού, η Πρόεδρος του Ο.Π.Α.Ν.Δ.Α. κυρία Παπαχελά, καθώς και οι Ολυμπιονίκες Αθανασία Τσουμελέκα, Τατιάνα Καββαδία και Βούλα Ζυγούρη, οι οποίες συμμετείχαν και στην απονομή των βραβείων.

Τις επόμενες ημέρες θα ολοκληρωθεί η διάθεση των εσόδων υπέρ του Κέντρου Κοινωνικής Πρόνοιας Αττικής (Παράρτημα Βούλας) και του Κέντρου Υποδοχής και Αλληλεγγύης Δήμου Αθηναίων, ενισχύοντας τις διμερείς σχέσεις των δύο κρατών, αλλά κυρίως ευαισθητοποιώντας την κοινωνία για τη διαχρονική αξία της ειρήνης.

The 5km Run of the Iraqi Embassy was concluded with great success

With more than 400 participants running for peace at the Acropolis surroundings, in the men’s and women’s category respectively, the winners of the 5km “Run for Peace: from Acropolis to Babylon” of March 16^th were Panagiotis Dimopoulos and Athanasia Tsoumeleka.

The 5 km Run at the Acropolis surroundings, an initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Athens, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, was co- organized with the support of the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens. The efforts of all authorities involved were praised by the participants due to the excellent organization and the outstanding route chosen in the heart of Athens.

Distinguished guests honored “Run for Peace” with their presence, such as the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Mr. Andrianos who did the countdown for the start of the Run, the President of the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens, as well as the Olympic winners Ms. Tsoumeleka, Ms. Kavadia and Ms. Zygouri, who also participated in the award ceremony.

In the next few days, the proceeds will be donated to charity (Centre of Solidarity for the Homeless of the Municipality of Athens and the Centre for Social Care (Voula).

The "Run for Peace" aims not only to strengthen the long-lasting ties between the two magnificent civilizations of Greece and Iraq, but mainly to raise awareness and awaken society about the value of peace.
